Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct at Law Jurist

Creating a Culture of Excellence and Integrity

This Code of Conduct (“the Code”) is a binding commitment for all members, managers, executive committee, and interns associated with Law Jurist. As a dedicated service provider for law students and lawyers, Law Jurist places paramount importance on core values of respect, integrity, and support for the legal fraternity. This Code serves as a foundational guide, fostering ethical behavior within our community.

I. Professional Conduct in Meetings

At Law Jurist, we emphasize a culture of mutual respect during meetings. All participants, regardless of their roles, are expected to conduct themselves professionally, embodying the principle of “give respect & take respect.” This extends to interactions with colleagues, whether they are in leadership roles or contributing as team members.

II. Confidentiality and Trustworthiness

Upholding the confidentiality of our work and discussions is crucial. Any breach will result in disciplinary action, overseen by the Executive Committee following prescribed rules. We recognize that trust is foundational to our organization, and every member is entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding sensitive information.

III. Disciplinary Measures

Law Jurist maintains the authority to take disciplinary action, including the removal of members or managers, based on grounds such as breach of confidentiality, indiscipline, or actions inconsistent with our organizational ethics. The Disciplinary Committee is empowered to make decisions ensuring a fair process while upholding organizational regulations. Individuals facing removal may also be blacklisted from further association with Law Jurist.

IV. Evolving Policies

Our policies are dynamic, evolving to incorporate emerging best practices in the legal industry and changes in relevant laws. Members and managers should be aware that the terms of their internship or managerial position may change without prior notice. Any alterations impacting individuals will be communicated in advance, ensuring transparency and understanding of the revised policies.

V. Resignation Protocol

Members and managers planning to resign must adhere to a structured process. Resignation notices should be submitted at least one month in advance, with acceptance contingent on valid reasons. Random resignations will not be entertained. Individuals intending to resign must identify and facilitate the transition of their responsibilities to a successor before departure.

VI. Meeting Code of Conduct

In addition to the general Code of Conduct, participants in Law Jurist meetings must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Respectful Participation: Participants are expected to engage in discussions respectfully, appreciating diverse opinions and contributing to a positive meeting environment.
  • Confidentiality of Meeting Discussions: All discussions within meetings are considered confidential and should not be disclosed without proper authorization.
  • Professional Demeanor: Attendees are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, treating fellow participants, speakers, and organizers with courtesy and respect.
